Sure, the 1969 Pontiac GTO was a fantastic release for collectors, mainly thanks to the famous Judge package, but this new model year suffered. And it suffered heavily.
The late '60s were dominated by a trend that forced customers to step away from muscle cars and high-performance engines, with insurance companies blaming these models for the increasing number of accidents.

We all know what the GTO meant to the muscle car community, so Pontiac's superstar was one of the biggest names massively hit by insurers dramatically increasing rates.

Few people agreed to pay extra for a muscle car, so the GTO sales nosedived in 1969, dropping to 72,287 units. The Judge received impressive attention, but most buyers – approximately 58,000 – ordered a "regular" hardtop.

A 1969 Pontiac GTO landed on eBay earlier this week in a condition that will likely catch the attention of many muscle car fans.

While I hate to state the obvious and comment on the car's condition, you must know that the paint on its body is not the original finish sprayed by Pontiac before the GTO left the factory. It's an older repaint to the factory color, and I advise you to inspect the car in person because it's the best way to tell if a new respray is required.

The car has always been stored in a garage, so it's safe to say it doesn't come with the typical rust issues you can find on models this old. A potential buyer should obviously inspect everything and check out the undercarriage thoroughly. It's not clear if you'll find rust damage on the floors, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

The 400 V8 engine under the hood starts and runs properly, and a video shared by the owner (also embedded below) is music to our ears. Few things sound as good as a Pontiac V8, so do yourselves a favor and put on your headphones before hitting the play button.

The most intriguing part of this GTO is the mileage on the clock. The owner says the car has 26,697 miles on the odometer, but I wouldn't be surprised if the odometer has already rolled over. I could be wrong, that's true, but you should thoroughly investigate this claim, as everything almost sounds too good to be true.

The selling price is $27,000, and this suggests that you may no longer get the highly desirable all-original package. It's still a great GTO that could proudly serve as a daily driver for someone willing to properly care for it. The vehicle waits to find a new home in El Paso, Texas, so contact seller gr8dayca to discuss all the details, including making other offers, as the option has also been enabled on eBay.
