Back in 2008 a tuned German Power War fighter claimed the world record for the fastest production sedan. We are talking about the G-Power M5 Hurricane RS, which managed to reach 228,4 mph.
Fast-forwarding to August 2010, we see the German-modified beast managing to outdo itself. The G-Power M5 Hurricane RS was clocked at 231.2 mph during one of the tuning company’s test, as Piston Heads reports.
We don’t know if the new performance is a new world record, as it is not clear if the event was assisted by independent observers. And there’s more: it’s still unclear if the speed was achieved as a peal on an oval test track or it was a speed reached in the course of a speeding mile in both directions. However, the car’s ability to play with speed is incredible.
The current incarnation of the beast offers a little more grunt than the original one, as it was fitted with new twin ASA T1-316 superchargers. Each charger delivers boost to an individual bank of the V10 engine’s cylinders.
The tuner replaced the M5’s standard air box with a sophisticated aluminum casting, with this offering a direct inlet. In other words, the powerplant delivers a higher level of torque and an improved response.
As you can imagine, the engine’s internals have been replaced with stronger ones. The unit’s new forged pistons have been engineered for a lower compression ratio.
All the goodies are managed by a remap ECU, with the 800 hp & 590 lb-ft transferred to the ground by the rear 19 inch Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
You can own a G-Power Hurricane M5 RS for EUR251,100 ($321,090).
