The biggest, most powerful and also the most family-friendly Opel model just received its facelift and looks all the better for it. We caught up with the OPC version of the Insignia Sports Tourer in Frankfurt this year and were impressed by what we saw.
Cosmetic surgery has left the car with brand new headlights and taillights. Opel also gave it a new grille design: mesh at the bottom and a new chrome strip that looks like a seagull at the top.
“The Insignia OPC dazzles with new radiance,” says Michael Ableson, Vice President GME Engineering. “With great attention to detail, our engineers have given it some decisive fine-tuning. This is evident in its design and in its even better driving performance. This puts the OPC squarely in the first league of mid-size series production sports cars.”
On the drivetrain front, the "New Insignia OPC" makes the same old 325 HP (239 kW) and 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) sent to an all-wheel drive system. However, they've changed the suspension and the ESP setup to reduce understeer and made the car more fun to drive.
