Yesterday, we brought you news of German automaker Mercedes’ plans for the hydrogen fuel source. We just couldn’t believe they managed to fit so many interesting features into one car. First off, its got gullwing doors, but the overall shape is different to the SLS.
The vehicle is created as a celebration of the Stuttgart-based carmaker’s 125th anniversary. Though it’s got a slightly longer wheelbase than the S-Class only weighs about a ton.
The modular e4MATIC system, which also uses improved drive components from the SLS AMG E-CELL, generates a continuous output of 231 horsepower from the electric motors, or a peak output of 313 horsepower.
This is enough for a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). The range on a full tank of hydrogen is expected to be 620 miles, and electric-only driving can be achieved for 31 miles thanks to an onboard battery.
