Lexus has already shown the body of the new GS when the revealed the 350 version in Pebble Beach. For their next big debut, the Japanese company’s choice was simple, as they unveiled the hybrid 2013 GS 450h in Frankfurt.
Like its ancestor from 2007, it makes use of the 3.5-liter V6 with Atkinson-cycle and a Hybrid Drive system that includes an electric motor. Combined output stands at 338 horsepower and is delivered to the rear wheels via a Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).
It’s also fast for a hybrid, taking 5.6 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) before going on to a top speed of 131mph (210km/h). Average fuel economy is said to have been improved by more than 30%, as Lexus was eyeing the Super-Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II (SULEV II) certification in the US.
