Ford recently announced they thousands of temporary layoffs in Europe, as the market there is drying up in the middle of a deepening recession. But the US market has seen an improved outlook and the Blue Oval has just announced a move that should put a smile on employees’ faces.
For the first time since 2008, Ford will give about 20,000 blue collars a 2.7 percent pay increase starting April 1st, according to a letter obtained by Detroit Free Press. These workers will also get access o pay bonuses.

We don’t know what sort of earnings Ford had in 2011, but CEO Alan Mulally did reveal they will be greater than the $8.3 billion earned in 2010. In march 2011, workers received $5,000 in bonuses for the company’s results in 2010.
