Ford Motor Co. has issued a recall for certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns.
Manufactured between July 19, 2011, through March 12, 2012, the affected vehicles may have "a marginally sealed seam" on the side of the fuel tank that could cause both leaks, lower strength on impact, and may even result in a fire.
According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 3,037 vehicles are affected by the recall with is expected to begin on April 22, 2013. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and replace them as necessary, free of charge.
The company last recall, issued early last month, called back 230,000 Ford Firestar and Mercury Monterey minivans dating back to 2004 over rust problems.
