We've seen a lot of crazy things happen on the drag strip, but what you're about to see is probably the weirdest run that didn't end up badly for the car or the driver.
When using the gas pedal to transfer a lot of horsepower from a big engine to the fat rear tires you got a lot of things to worry about, and one of them is keeping the car's nose to the ground. Once the front wheels are up there, you either have a wheelie on your hands, or you're heading for a big crash.
Fortunately, an accident was not the case for Jere Etheridge's twin-turbo Ford Mustang, though his unwanted wheelie was more of a take off, as the car's rear tires managed to defy gravity for a few splits of a seconds.
He did land the car safely on the strip, although lost the race and had to run on the opposing lane, but this means the white-flamed candy red Mustang can prepare for its next quarter-mile showdown.
