Despite the hype surrounding both SUVs and electric powertrains, the customers' appetite for electric SUVs is not that great. On the market for several years now, vehicles of this type built by a series of carmakers are struggling to reach the great numbers their makers were hoping for.
One of the most recent addition to this segment is Ford’s Mustang Mach-E. Shown for the first time in 2019 as a weird blend between your average Ford crossover and the name of a muscle car, the model is gearing up for the start of deliveries of the First Edition by the end of the year.
At one point in the past, Ford said there were enough reservations for the model to make it confident in the nameplate's success: around 80 percent of the planned production run for the first year. There are four versions of the model now available to preorder, Select, Premium, California RT.1, and GT.
In an attempt to boost customer interest even further, especially for the top of the range GT, Ford said this week a new color would be added to the roster. Called Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, it is certainly the most appealing of the colors available for the model at this time.
“Mustang has always turned heads and Mustang Mach-E will be no exception,” said in a statement Dave Pericak, director, Ford Icons. “We can’t wait for Cyber Orange to hit the streets on Mustang Mach-E GT next year to fuel the passion of our orange Mustang fans.”
Deliveries of the Mach-E GT are not scheduled to take place sooner than the end of next year’s summer, so it will be quite some time before we get to see the crossover wrapped in this paint on the roads.
Also, at least for now, we cannot even enjoy the view of the Cyber Orange on the Mach-E on the carmaker’s configurator, as this new option is not up yet.
