With the coming 2024 Lincoln Nautilus serving as its first host platform, Ford and Lincoln's integrated infotainment system is about to receive a whole new layer of refinement. Through the all-new Ford and Lincoln Digital experience, a whole host of premium features and increased intuitiveness seem primed to make for an industry-leading user experience. Let's take a look at some of the details.
As per a report by Parks Associates, back in 2022, the average American household owned 16 internet-connected devices. With a couple of years now removed from this study, that number is likely even bigger. With this in mind, the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience is here to integrate the functionality of as many of these devices as possible into one compact space, accessible to the driver with a bare minimum of fuss or excess movement. In an age where a motor vehicle features more distractions than ever before, this radical new infotainment architecture is an honest, good-faith attempt at solving a relevant automotive problem.

At the heart of all the new features is a vibrant 48-inch panoramic touch center screen, which is, according to Lincoln, the highest-quality infotainment center ever offered on one of their vehicles. Through this screen, any and all apps available through Apple Car Play or Android Auto are within reach of the driver without diverting attention away from the road. Alternatively, using the same touch screen, one could always access the BlueCruise hands-free driving experience.

Through a smartphone-quality, high-fidelity capacitive touch screen, the user experience should be intimately familiar to anyone using the latest Apple iOS or Android software. Through the integrated Vivaldi browser app, parked vehicles will be able to browse the web and stream video just the same as any smart device. Though we hazard to guess the smartphone, phablet, or tablet you watch Netflix on isn't as large as the screen on a 2024 Nautilus.

Starting with the 2024 Nautilus and proliferating across Ford and Lincoln's vehicle range thereafter, integration of the new system will be swift and forthcoming throughout the new year as dealerships familiarize themselves with the new hardware and distribute vehicles across Ford's range with the new hardware in place. No word yet on whether the system will find its way onto higher-end sporty Fords like the 2025 Mustang GTD, but it's a safe bet that Escapes, Broncos, and Exporers will see the Ford Digital Experience be the cornerstone of their sales pitch.

With so much functionality accessible to the driver's direct line of sight, Ford and Lincoln's Digital Experience adds a layer of safety that all future passenger cars will one day accept as the standard. Innovations like this, not flying jet cars, will come to define the automotive industry in the coming decades.
