Figures released today by the SMMT show car sales in the UK increased by 11% to 180,111 for the month of May. Ford not only managed to increase its share of the market but its overall sales as well.
The Blue Oval sold 25,674 cars, up from May 2012's 23,255. For the year-to-date, Ford car sales were 132,199, up from 126,724 in 2012.
Of the total sold in May, the Fiesta took 9,316 orders as the UK best-seller in May and the Ford Focus secured the number two slot with 7,522 sales. The Ford B-MAX maintained control of its segment with a 23.2% share of the small MPV market.
