Ford Focus and Mercedes Benz CL Caught Fire Out of the Blue

Two drivers from different cities lived moments of nightmare yesterday, when their cars instantly caught fire while on the move, without any specific reason,  Romanian website realitatea.net reported.

A woman driving a Ford Focus in Timisoara, Romania, saw how smoke was coming from under the hood an instantly shut down the engine. She got out of the car and walked away terrified, assisting helplessly as her car was turning to ashes.

"I noticed at the roundabout that smoke was coming out, but it instantly caught fire. I just got out of the car that was swallowed by flames,"
said driver Simona Regeas.

Some other drivers stopped and tried to help using their extinguishers. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain, since the flames were already too high. Firefighters were called and it took them only five minutes to extinguish the fire.

"I saw everything because I have a shop in the area. Firefighters arrived quickly. Until I came  up with a bucket, they were here," said Ioan Soldan, one of the witnesses.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, but fire slightly damaged another car parked close to the incident. The first research showed that the fire was caused by a short circuit of the electrical installation.

The second incident also happened in Romania, but this time in Constanta. A Mercedes Benz CL driver was shocked to see his car catching fire out of the blue. He pulled over and tried to put out the fire. However, half of the car was already destroyed.

"It caught fire on the go, said some people. I was helped by five persons with extinguishers but we couldn’t seize the fire," said the car owner.

"We located the fire and put an end to it. The most likely cause of fire is an electrical short circuit from an electrical conductor," said fireman Lt. George Nicolae.

Since these strange incidents occurred in the land of Dracula, we suppose Romanians have a new mystery to fear: spontaneous combustion of their own car. Sucking blood must have become old fashioned.
