Automakers invest millions every year to make sure that your car doesn’t smoke a single bit of your tire no matter how hard you try pressing your new Civic’s gas pedal. You’d think that was money well spent but just look at what you’re missing out on.
Instead, a far better use of R&D money would be further development of this colored tire smoke technology. We’d love to see a polka dot cloud or one finished like the rainbow. This video was shot at this year’s Summernats, an event that likes to fill spectators’ mouths with bits of rubber.
It took place only recently in Canberra, the capital of Australia, and this colored display is the work of Gary Myers and his customized 1972 Ford Falcon Coupe. We’re told that purple tires are very expensive, but we’re also glad he went for them.
