While others have turned India into a major export hub and plan to boost their business in the country, American manufacturer Ford continues to grow thanks to its local lineup which remains attractive for Indian buyers. The company posted an 198 percent growth in year-on-year sales as compared to the same month of last year. In plain English, this means the company delivered a total of 7,504 units in November, up from 2,520 units in the same month of 2009.
But Ford India performed well not only in November, but also in the first eleven months of the year. Overall, the company delivered a total of 79,586 units, an increase of... 185 percent! For the sake of comparison, Ford India delivered "only" 27,906 units in the January - November period last year.
If you're wondering which is the model that drives Ford India's sales forward, it is the Figo that does the whole job. Since its launch in March this year, the US-based carmaker delivered a total of 58,000 units, but Fiesta, Ikon and the Endeavour continued to perform well in their respective segments.
"This has been an outstanding year for Ford in India. It is also extremely encouraging to see the Figo resonating with so many Indian customers and gratifying to see them on India's roads," Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India, said.
And things are expected to grow bigger in the months to come. Ford India recently expanded its dealership and service network to no less than 170 stores across over 100 cities in the country.
