The Huawei car division CEO has just posted the first photo of what should be the company’s new compact electric sedan, coming under a new brand called Luxeed, as a Tesla Model 3 rival.
Codenamed EH, the project is the aftermath of the collaboration between the tech giant and Chery. The photo posted on Weibo by ChengdongYu, the CEO of Huawei Smart Car Business Unit, reveals a sleek sedan with a minimalist design, that he calls "a pure coupe." It was previously assumed that the model would come under the AITO umbrella, but Luxeed is the new brand that integrates it.

Luxeed is also the name of the sedan coupe. It may be a hint that the model found inspiration in the Lucid Air electric sedan, in combination with the name of the Exceed high-end brand from Chery.

Chery is the company that developed the E0X platform that underpins the model. It is the same architecture that the upcoming Exeed Sterra ES and Exceed Sterra ET will be based on.

The new Luxeed comes with signature headlights, an elongated hood that descends towards the front bumper, being divided from it by a thin LED strap, which connects the narrow headlights. There are air intakes under the headlights, and there is a slot up on the roof that integrates a LiDAR sensor.

The Huawei ADS 2.0 also integrates 11 HD cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars, capable of making the car drive for up to 124 miles (200 kilometers) without any human intervention.

It also sports the Navigation Cruise Assist (NCA) feature, which allows it to drive on its own in cities or on highways. After launch, the feature will be operational in 45 cities across China, with Huawei planning to extend the number.

The HarmonyOS 4 system is also on board, and it is compatible with Huawei phones, laptops, smartwatches, and others, supporting video games thanks to a powerful 8295 chip from Qualcomm. If you connect a quadcopter drone to the car, the video it captures can be streamed on the onboard display.

The sideline reveals wide wheel arches, retractable door handles, and Brembo brakes.

The model is powered by a dual-motor powertrain in an all-wheel drive setup. A CATL-sourced battery pack provides it with 435 miles (700 kilometers) of range. The car is equipped with air suspension.

According to Car News China, the Huawei-Chery car is expected to launch sometime in the third quarter of 2023, with a price starting at 200,000 ($27,834), and might make its global debut at the Chengdu Auto Show that starts on August 25. The model should come as a rival for the Nio ET7 and BYD Han on the Chinese market. And, of course, for the Tesla Model 3!
