The Porsche 911 Turbo remastered by Sonderwunch was unveiled at the Icons of Porsche Festival in Dubai. The model is a tribute to the first-ever 911 Turbo, which belonged to Ferdinand Porsche’s daughter, Louise.
The 1974 model is now called the "911 Turbo Nr. 1." Sporting the narrow-chassis body from the 911 Carrera, unlike the models that would follow, it was made as gift for Louise Piech's 70th birthday. She received the car on August 29, 1974, from her brother, Ferry, who was five years her junior. The 911 Turbo featured a different sheet metal from that of the 911 Carrera and debuted the big Turbo rear wing.

It was powered by an air-cooled 2.7-liter turbocharged engine, which generated 260 horsepower, as opposed to the following examples that were powered by a 3.0-liter unit. It sported a wide body kit and that huge wing at the back, which made it look every inch a race car.

The Porsche 911 Turbo was finished in silver with black and red Porsche lettering on the sides. Louise Piech handpicked the red upholstery herself, in combination with Tartan fabric seat inserts. The heir of the original 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo the 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo, comes with a similar silver paint finish and the Porsche lettering, looking almost identical to that on the 1974 model. Furthermore, it rides on five-spoke wheels with a black matte finish, inspired by those of the original 911 Turbo.

The one-off 911 marks the model's 60th anniversary, but also the carmaker's 75th year on the market. The project is the result of the collaboration between Style Porsche, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, and the Porsche Middle East and Africa regional office. The team got a helping hand from the Heritage & Museum experts.

The people at Porsche came up with the idea about a year ago. They wanted to create a modern iteration of a car that was, as Patrick Gallas, manager of Porsche Executive Manufaktur says, truly unique. And so they chose to remaster one of the greatest icons wearing the Porsche crest: the original 911 Turbo that had been in the hands of Louise Piech.

The largest inflatable vehicle on earth, officially registered by Guinness World Record, was also present in Dubai for the festival. Placed in the center of the entire exhibition, it measures 20 feet (6 meters) in height, 26 feet (8 meters) in width and 66 feet (20 meters) in length.

The third-generation Porsche Panamera, which the Germans unveiled last week, was also on display in the United Arab Emirates, alongside the all-new 718 Spyder RS and the Vision 357 Speedster concept car.

One of the vehicles that enjoyed the spotlight in Dubai was a Mission X hypercar. Approximately 27,000 guests attended the Icons of Porsche Festival this year.
