The very first examples of 2013 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet drag racing machines have exited the doors of the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. This is the very first example and it has been shipped to a dealership, Sam Pack Ford in Plano, Texas. Also finished are cars number 4 and 25, which will be shipped to Superior Ford and B.F. Evans Ford.
Within the next three weeks, Ford says that all 50 will be finished, fitted with either a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 or a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. Ford Racing is asking $85,490 (EUR63,390) for each of these.
"The 2008 Cobra Jet was a great car. It did everything we wanted it to do," said George Goddu, business manager, Ford Racing Performance Group. "We're really proud of that car, but we have spent the last three years improving each offering of the Cobra Jet and we are always trying to make the next one better."
