First 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon to Auctioned at Barrett-Jackson

The first of the only 500 units 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Limited Edition to be built will be auctioned by American manufacturer Chevrolet at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Fla., on April 3.

The highest bidder will get, alongside the Corvette, a tour of the performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan, where the engines found in the the Z06 and ZR1 are builg built.

“The Corvette Z06 Carbon will surely be an instant collectible,” Jim Campbell, US Vice President for marketing at Chevrolet said in a release. “For that reason, we see Barrett-Jackson as the premiere venue to sell the first retail Z06 Carbon.”

The Z06 Limited Edition will feature Brembo carbon ceramic brakes with dark gray metallic calipers, which were first launched on the ZR1. The looks and grip are further improved with the new black 20-spoke 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels with Michelin PS2 tires. Magnetic Selective Ride Control is featured for the first time on the Z06. The car also has enhanced cooling.

Only two color options will be available for the 'Vette, Inferno Orange and Supersonic Blue, wrapped around black headlamps and mirrors, a ZR1-style body color spoiler, body color door handles, carbon fiber raised hood, and black carbon fiber rockers and splitter.

Chevrolet does not say how much it expects to fetch for the Carbon edition, but hints to how much it would want to get for it, reminding possible bidders the fact that the first retail production 2009 Corvette ZR1 sold for $1,000,000 back in 2008.
