Fiat has announced a new edition of its supermini designed to appeal to British customers. It's called the Punto Jet Black 2 and it's going on sale for the semi-reasonable sum of £12,000.
Since this is a special edition, the spec of the car is very simple to understand. Up front, you only have one engine choice, a 1.4-liter petrol with 77 bhp (80 PS) with a manual gearbox.
The car is finished in Crossover Black metallic exterior with side stripes in blue and 17-inch alloy wheels. Fog lights, tinted glass and sports suspension are all standard equipment. Inside, the Punto offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control and the Blue&Me Bluetooth connectivity system. The seats have nice boslters and the dash is decent, but it's not exactly a looker.
The only truly appealing thing about the Punto Jet is the price. Under Fiat's flexible financing schemes, you can get this car for £99 per month if you can muster a deposit of £4,499. That's cheap motoring, but then again, so is a Dacia Sandero.
So what else could you get for £12,000 in Britain today? How about a Ford Fiesta Style for £11,695 or a Zetec model for only slightly more. If you really want something cheap, we might also suggest the Dacia Sandero. for £11,000, which is a lot cheaper than the Punto, a fully loaded Stepway Laureate dCi 90 can be yours. a 90 horsepower diesel engine in a semi-crossover type of vehicle… that's going to be a good family car.
The Punto Jet Black with its stripes is, we think, a no-no.
