Fiat Iveco to Service Your Transmission

HL Smith Transmissions announced today it has taken delivery of the first Iveco to join a 12-strong fleet which will be used by the transmission manufacturer as a support vehicle for mobile diagnostics and the on-site fitting. The Iveco will be equipped so that it could perform installation of manual and automatic gearboxes, differentials, axles, propshafts and power steering boxes into vans, trucks, buses, coaches and specialist military vehicles.

“We have a lot of experience working on vehicles in the Iveco range, which led directly to us selecting an Iveco Daily for our mobile support fleet. Driver feedback has been very positive since we put the vehicle on the road and it’s living up to the busy nature of life in our fleet," Russell Smith, HL Smith Transmissions managing director said in a release.

“Another key reason which made the Daily so attractive was its projected whole life costs, in comparison with our existing light commercials. We typically run our product support vehicles for between three and four years from new, covering an average of 50,000 to 60,000 miles a year, and expect the Daily to deliver savings for the business."

The Iveco, converted to a support vehicle, features several specific features, such as Britax slimline roof-mounted flashing beacons, twin Brigade color reversing cameras and 1,250 mm wide sliding side door and twin rear doors offering 270 degree opening. The Iveco is powered by a 2.3 litre HPI engine delivering up to 116 hp.
