Presented at the recent Geneva Motor Show, the Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato concept was well received due to its mix of 500 styling and coupe looks, plus its bold color. It also came with the characteristic "double hump", the true emblem of Zagato.
It now seems that the concept was so well received that it justifies the introduction of a production version, according to the latest reports from es.autoblog.com. Unfortunately, production looks likely to be limited, which also means it should cost an arm and a leg.
The news comes just months before big rival MINI will bring a coupe version of its popular hatchback to market. Set to arrive this summer, a concept version of the car made its debut almost two full years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, this won’t be the case with the 500’s coupe, as development is in full swing.
The concept version of the car that was brought down to Geneva came with bright Pop Yellow livery and 17-inch "chrome shadow" wheels with a brand new double spoked shape and synthetic inserts. “Designed mainly for a young and dynamic male target, the "500 Coupe Zagato" also accommodates the needs of a female target owing to the painstaking pursuit of stylistic solutions resulting from the most interesting trends on colours and materials,” Fiat says.
Inside, yellow was liberally sprinkled onto the high-tech fabric, contrasting with the black natural leather of the surrounds. Just like the normal 500, the Coupe Zagato gets "my-port", a multimedia port installed on the dashboard allowing the driver to link up to the world via a latest generation smartphone enabled to access the Internet and satellite navigation.
