Cardion AB's Karel Abraham is still a rather long way until he's back to 100% fitness, team sources say. After his crash at Indianapolis last year, things got worse and he ended up sidelined, catering to his injury.
Last October, he finally got a shoulder surgery to fix the injury, and as hoped to be back in full shape for the pre-season tests. Still, Karel Abraham was in a lot of pain during the first Sepang test, and is currently working on physio to eliminate pain and movement limitations.

Even though 100% recovery is not expected until the next Sepang test, the Quatar one should see the Cardion AB rider ina much better shape.

One the other hand, Suzuki seems to make solid progress with porting their software from the Mitsubishi ECU to the Magneti Marelli one. The Japanese maker is aimed at a factory option entry in 2015 and this means they will be loading only 20 liters of fuel.

However, Team manager Davide Brivio says that at the time, fuel consumption is not the priority. Finding the best software frame for the new ECU seems to be the most important thing now, and establishing a solid base to build on.

The factory is already working hard on mechanical improvements for the engine. The end of 2014 should see the new, 20-liter-focused engine from Suzuki, and only then will things enter the "final straight".

Suzuki and Randy De Puniet completed a whopping 238 laps at Sepang, and will join the rest of the grid on the second Malaysian test. Austin, TX, Argentina and multiple European circuits will also see Suzuki machinery tested through the end of the year.

As for the wildcard appearances, still no word.
