We rarely see a famous BMW tuner take on a project from Toyota, but the GR Supra is the same car as the latest Z4, albeit with a fixed roof, different front and rear fascias, and other tweaks. Thus, say hello to AC Schnitzer's take on the Toyota GR Supra.
AC Schnitzer has applied its expertise to the Japanese company's sports coupe, giving it a few exterior add-ons, some cabin upgrades, new wheels and suspension, and a power boost. As a result, it is a complete tuning job.
In the powertrain department, the performance upgrade comprises both the 2.0- and 3.0-liter engines. The former now enjoys 296 hp (300 ps/221 kW) and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque, up from 255 hp (258 ps/190 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). The larger unit is good for 394 hp (400 ps/294 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm), a healthy boost over the stock car's 335 hp (340 ps/250 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
Additional mechanical upgrades available on the tuner's shelves for the latest Toyota GR Supra include the new exhaust system with carbon or black tips and a height-adjustable suspension that drops the body by 30-40 mm (1.2-1.6 inches) front and rear. A spring kit is available that shaves 15 mm (0.6 in) from the ground clearance at the front and 20 mm (0.8 in) at the rear compared to the model's standard setup.
The wheel spacers add 10 mm (0.4 inches) on each side and are available at AC Schnitzer, alongside a selection of different alloys, like the AC3, AC4, and AC1 sets, in different hues, and with 20- or 21-inch diameters and various respective widths, depending on the chosen set. The new wheels come wrapped in specific tires, so you won't have to go shopping for new rubber if you tick this box.
On the aerodynamics side, the tuner mentions the new front splitter, a rear wing with a gurney flap, and that's about it. However, a closer look at the generous image gallery supplied by AC Schnitzer also reveals that the Toyota GR Supra has new side skirts and hood add-ons, too. The special decal set consisting of stickers for the hood and both sides of the car rounds off the makeover on the outside.
AC Schnitzer is not famously known for giving its projects wacky interior jobs, so in this department, the Japanese sports model makes do with new aluminum pedals and footrest, an aluminum iDrive cover, and a key holder made of the same material. No pricing details have been announced at the time of writing, but AC Schnitzer will gladly answer this question by contacting them. So, do you like the tuner's proposal for the Toyota GR Supra?
