At the very least, power has slightly increased to 346 kW (470 PS) or 464 horsepower for both - each is limited to only 250 examples across the Old Continent and the United Kingdom markets.
Before we proceed, let's remark how Audi loves to play with conventions – but only regarding letter capitalization, not the design or features of its cars. More precisely, note that the limited series of the Audi RS 4 Avant and RS 5 Sportback is named 'edition 25 years' and 'performance edition.' Maybe it all started 25 years ago when Audi first introduced its inaugural RS model in the form of the B5-generation 1999 Audi RS4 Avant.

Back then, 'RS4' was being written without a space – unlike today when all RS models like RS 3, RS 4, RS 6, RS e-tron, RS Q8, and so forth are written with a space. Meanwhile, the lower-tier S options are S3, S4, S6, SQ8, and so forth. Confusing, right? Remember, they love to make our heads dizzy – just think about their powertrain names (45 TDI, 55 TFSI, etc.) and the fact that they're switching to odd numbers for the ICE-powered models and even numbers for the e-trons!

Anyway, back to the fresh Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years and RS 5 Sportback performance edition, they're both coming out to play in Europe as their respective flagships – one to celebrate the anniversary and the other to offer yet another costly option on top of the regular 2024 RS 5 Sportback, which kicks off at $79,900 in America. This new one hasn't been announced for the United States yet, but we're afraid to ask about it there because the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years starts from no less than $148k in the United Kingdom!

They both share some of the technical specifications – not just the fact that they're limited to 250 units across the European region with just 50 examples of the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years and another ten RS 5 Sportback performance edition going across the English Channel to the United Kingdom. More precisely, the V6 bi-turbo mill now has an output of 346 kW (470 PS) or 464 horsepower and a maximum torque of 600 Nm or 443 lb-ft. Unfortunately for them, it's not enough to beat the BMW M3 Touring or M4 Competition xDrive, which share the S58 mill with 503 horsepower and 650 Nm or 479 lb-ft.

On the other hand, both models get to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.7 seconds now (0.4s and 0.2s seconds faster, respectively), while maximum speed has surged to 186 mph or 299 kph. The two of them come standard with RS sports suspension pro with progressive steering and an improved Torsen differential. Of course, the RS 4 Avant is easy to differentiate because, as a tribute to past models, it sports the exotic Imola Yellow paintjob along with Nardo Gray and Mythos Black shades plus a white background for the tachometer and speedometer thanks to an additional option in the MMI system.

The production of the RS 4 Avant edition 25 years and Audi RS 5 Sportback performance special edition has already started, and order books will open in June 2024 with mind-bending quotations: 128,420 euros or $139,571 for the RS 5 and no less than 142,905 euros or $155,313 for the RS 4 Avant!
