Expected to be one of the greatest comebacks in motorsports history, the return of Michael Schumacher to the F1 paddocks has fail to impress so far. On the contrary actually, the former Ferrari star is not only annoying the man who discovered him, Eddie Jordan, but is also risking his future.
In the Singapore race, Schumacher continued his bad performances and barely managed to clinch a 13th place in the end, making Jordan even more critical of his decision to come back and, even more, his stubbornness to leave, this time for good, Formula 1.
Jordan believes it is only the champion's former glory that is still keeping him in the driver's seat. The former team owner says that if Schumacher was his driver, he would have sacked him in a blink of an eye.
"If Michael Schumacher was not Michael Schumacher, driving as he is currently, would he be in the seat next year?" the Irishman told the BBC. "My guess is no."
"I'm sorry, I'm going to be controversial this time. I would sack him, he's clearly not good enough on this performance we've seen on Sunday."
Schumacher is now driving for Mercedes GP team headed by Ross Brawn and is under a two year contract. Rumor goes that even his fame is not enough to save him from being replaced in the driver's seat in 2011. Sources say the 7 time champion will receive a management role within the team, while his place behind the wheel will be taken by Adrian Sutil.
