Ecclestone Insists Vettel Will Drive for Ferrari One Day

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is knows to be quite the fan when it comes to the sport's youngest world champion Sebastian Vettel. After recently offering the German driver the opportunity to become his son-in-law, in a joking manner of course, the 80-year old Englishman now firmly believes Vettel will one day fulfill his dream of driving for Ferrari.

Yes, Sebastian will drive for Ferrari one day,” said Ecclestone, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Asked if he shared this view with the Italian media only to please the tifosi, Ecclestone denied immediately, insisting that driving for Ferrari is not only a dream of Vettel's, but also of almost every driver present on the F1 grid.

No, I really think so,” he continued. “Ferrari is really something special – it's like an opera singer who wants to sing in the best and biggest theatre.”

Vettel is currently managing himself in Formula 1, and that seems to work just fine for the 23-year old driver. His contract with Red Bull expires at the end of this season, but Red Bull holds the first option for a one-year extension. However, according to several reports in late 2010, the Austrian team is seeking a deal extension until 2015 for the German driver.

Present in Valencia for Formula 1's first winter test, the reigning world champion hinted that everything is possible for the future in the long run.

If you're asked where you see yourself in five or ten years then for all of us it's a difficult question,” said Vettel.
