A driver attempted to free from police and drove a Jeep Cherokee onto a golf course.
Fortunately, the entire pursuit has not ended in anyone getting injured or killed. Instead, the car was crashed into the “water hazard” on the golf course at Mile Square Park, Fountain Valley, California.
While not the first time when someone tries to flee from the police on a golf course, this is the first time when golfers tackled the fugitive.
As Orange County Register reports, the driver named Mario Gam Acevedo, a parolee, was stopped by police when entering the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store. The 34-year-old man drove the car over the parkway and sidewalk in an attempt to run from the police officer that walked up to him.
After the pursuit had ended in the water hazard of the David L. Baker Memorial Golf Course, two golfers spotted the suspect as he was running away from the vehicle. Probably upset because his game was interrupted, a third golfer tackled the fugitive and held him until police arrived.
After apprehending the suspect, police officers discovered a “significant amount” of narcotics in his pants, as well as various burglary tools in the vehicle, along with a replica firearm.
The Jeep Cherokee that was driven into the lake was reportedly stolen, which might be the reason why the parolee fled the police when he was first stopped by the officers of the law.
As OC Register notes, Mr. Acevedo has an extensive wrap sheet, which has a previous conviction involving taking a vehicle, as well as theft and burglary.
Things do not look bright for the 34-year-old man, who has been taken to the hospital for the nursing of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
It is worth noting that running from the police is one of the worst ideas you could have in real life. For this kind of thing, Grand Theft Auto V, and the other games in the series, are the best options to experiment running from the cops. In real life, pull over and follow their instructions, so you do not get shot.
