Donkervoort, the Dutch sports car manufacturer, has published a teaser image of its 2016 model range.
The Dutch company will make three models in 2016, all versions of the D8. They are called the D8 GTO-S, D8 GTO-RS, and the D8 GTO-R. Performance specifications and other technical data will be revealed this March at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where the cars will be showcased.
The first of them is not too different from the older D8 GTO. However, the new model features a different approach, with more comfort in mind. The car is designed to provide more comfort for roads and long distance trips. The new Donkervoort D8 GTO-S will be available for order starting this month and has a price of 115,173 euros without taxes. First deliveries will take place in March 2016.
The second model in the Donkervoort range is the D8 GTO-RS. This one was finished in total darkness during the last two years and will only be made in a limited series of 40 cars. Starting June 2016, the D8 GTO-RS will be available for order at a starting price of 151,173 euros, excluding taxes.
The third model in the Donkervoort range is the first race car in the company’s history. The Donkervoort D8 GTO-R will not be allowed on public roads, being design for track use. The third model in the Donkervoort range will be launched this fall and is the most expensive, having a starting price of 251,173 euros without taxes.
Donkervoort came to public attention a decade ago, although its history goes back almost 40 years. The Dutch brand established a lap record on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 2005 with the D8 270 RS. At the time, that version of the D8 was the most track-focused car in the company’s lineup and still is sought after to this day. Since Donkervoort only made 25 units of the D8 270 RS, their prices are on the rise, and owners are not giving up on their cars so quickly.
