Known for fast cars and making things differently from the competition, Dodge decided to revigorate the Challenger, Charger, and Durango with an interesting campaign. More to the point, customers are given $10 per horsepower toward the purchase of a vehicle from the model year as long as it’s the Challenger, Charger, or Durango.
Dodge Power Dollars is how it’s called, and the American automaker is onto something. Take the Hellcat Redeye as a prime example of the campaign. The total cash allowance for the 797-horsepower muscle car is $7,970. At the other end of the spectrum, the Durango SXT with the 293-horsepower Pentastar V6 engine is eligible for $2,930.

Money and horsepower make the world go around, and Dodge certainly knows how to draw in the customer. The incentive program starts today – August 1st – and only applies to 2019 vehicles to clear out the inventory. 2020 is right around the corner, and dealerships need to move the remaining stock.

Curiously enough, the Grand Caravan and Journey with the Pentastar V6 aren’t included in the program even though the engine is shared with the Challenger, Charger, and Durango. Tim Kuniskis, global head of passenger cars in North America at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, stands behind the Dodge Power Dollars campaign with an interesting statement.

"Since bringing the Charger and the Challenger back to the market, Dodge has put 485 million horsepower into the hands of our loyal enthusiasts. The goal is to grow to a half-billion horsepower before the end of the year," he said. Now that would be a serious achievement for Dodge, alright!

For the time being, the Hellcat Redeye is the most powerful passenger car from America thanks to the supercharged HEMI V8 with 6.2 liters of displacement. A year before, the Demon had the title thanks to 840 horsepower on race-grade gasoline from a similar displacement.

Coincidence or not, the Challenger also happens to steal sales away from the Camaro thanks to better deals and larger dimensions. There are rumors Chevrolet has discontinued the development of the Camaro Gen 7, deciding to focus on electrification instead.
