As part of its new collaboration with Fiat, Chrysler is set to put an end to its Chrysler-Dodge sister car strategy, with the first moves being the discontinuing of the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and the Dodge Avenger mid-sized sedan.
Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne told Automotive News that the aforementioned models will be dropped in order for the company to introduce a single crossover in 2013. In addition to that, we’ll receive a Chrysler-badged replacement for the 200, when the Avenger, which is based on it, will be replaced.
So, Chrysler gets the sedan and Dodge gets the crossover, but where will these come from? The answer is predictable: both cars will be based on Fiat platforms.
