During this classic quarter-mile drag race from The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, we're witnessing a classic vendetta between Ford and Dodge. We'll even see Mustang race Mustang and Challenger race Challenger, so strap in, because this show is packed with late reactions, brutal comebacks, and good old-fashioned driving skills that will take one particular feline to the finish line in under 9.5 seconds.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye faced the Mustang Shelby GT500 during the first race. As soon as the lights turned green, both racers were off. The Hellcat was packing some serious power, crossing the finish line in 9.46 seconds at 147.86 miles per hour or 238 kilometers per hour. The Shelby finished in a very impressive 10.83-second time, going 135.74 mph or 218.45 kph.

The second race was between a plum-crazy Demon 170 and another Shelby. It's no surprise the Demon obliterated the Mustang, even though it was "sleeping at the wheel," so to speak, because of the driver's very late reaction time. The Demon took roughly two seconds to snap out of it and floor it toward the finish line.

It didn't matter in the end, because the Dodge finished in 9.63 seconds, going 145 mph (233 kph), while the Shelby did it in 11.01 seconds at 127.58 miles per hour or 205 kilometers per hour.

In the third race, the previous Hellcat Redeye went up against another Hellcat because why not? Of course, the Redeye won, pulling a 9.64-second time at 133.95 mph (215 kph), while its competitor finished in 11.11 seconds, going 134.74 miles per hour or 217 kph.

The last race was between a regular 5.0-liter Coyote Mustang and its souped-up sibling, the Shelby GT500. This time, the latter had a very late start, but it caught up by the end, crossing the line in 10.67 seconds at 132.80 mph (214 kph), while its rival finished in 12.26 seconds at 115.72 miles per hour (186 kph).

There's even a funny remark in the comment section of the "Wheels" YouTube video, saying, "The positive is the Mustang won the last race."

Under typical circumstances, the $83,000 SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak comes out of the factory with a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 mill that produces 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet or 958 Nm of torque.

The Demon 170 is a modern legend. Its mind-shattering 6.2L V8 D170 engine and 3.0-liter supercharger deliver up to 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft (1,281 Nm) of torque. Dodge boasts the Demon can hit 60 mph from a standstill in 1.66 seconds. Feed it the right E85 concoction, and it can even cross the 1/4-mile finish line in 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph or 243 kph.

Win or lose, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a superb piece of machinery. It has a 5.2-liter V8 powerplant that produces 760 hp with 625 lb-ft (847 Nm) of torque. So its fuel economy isn't the best in the world, with a 13.6 mpg (17.30 L/100km) consumption.

Not to mention at the track, where it drinks 4.5 mpg or 52.26 liters per 100 kilometers. It's obviously not made for grocery shopping, but that's precisely the point. Such a machine wasn't forged for anything less than sheer performance and thrills.

Now, regarding the latest and greatest 830-hp Shelby Super Snake S650 models, there's no doubt that drag racing videos will be more entertaining than ever before when we see more of them in action.
