The Blue Oval company is currently busy celebrating at and around the 24 Hours of Le Mans the upcoming $325k Ford Mustang GTD and its newly unveiled Carbon Series with the Performance Pack (which is going for a sub-7-minute lap time attempt at the Nürburgring Nordschleife).
This weekend, we're tuning in on the action at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Ford is there with the Mustang GT3, hoping for a class win – but they also unveiled the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series with a new Performance pack in a catchy Chroma Flame paint for the model's formal European debut.

Speaking of the Old Continent, unlike Americans, the folks living there still appreciate the practicality of a station wagon. In fact, they understand passenger cars as a whole – not just crossovers, SUVs, and trucks. As such, Ford might revisit its North American strategy, where the S650 seventh generation 2024 Mustang series has remained its last surviving member of the passenger car race.

If they need ideas, no worries; the rumor mill and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators have plenty of dreams. For example, Jim, a virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, loves messing around with all things CGI from the automotive realm, and he now dreams of a reborn Ford Freestyle.

For those who don't remember the nameplate, this lesser-known Blue Oval was a crossover utility vehicle looking more like a station wagon than an SUV that was produced from 2005 to 2009 and also got called the Ford Taurus X for the final part of its stint on planet Earth. Sharing the D3 platform with the Ford Five Hundred and Montego, it was the successor to the Ford Taurus station wagon and the more practical counterpart of the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego four-door sedans.

Interestingly, the pixel master is not even sure that the Ford Freestyle is a nameplate that merits a resurrection, but nevertheless, he's still giving us an unofficial modern-day version. Curiously, this hypothetical station wagon is not even based on a Ford or Lincoln product. Instead, he stole the DNA of the Peugeot 508, which is actually a product born under the rule of one of Ford's diehard rivals – Stellantis.

This isn't the first time this CGI expert has worked on a Blue Oval, and other obscure ideas include the Fox Body Ford Mustang Cobra Sedan, an S550-based Mercury Cougar Eliminator, a Mad Max Furiosa-style Ford F-150 Lightning Interceptor, or a Ford Crown Vic-350 dually coupe utility, just to name a select few! In fact, quite possibly, this rejuvenated Ford Freestyle is the safest idea he's had in a while, and we could easily see it come to life with cues from the fifth-generation Ford Mondeo offered in China or the Taurus available in the Middle East. What do you think?
