Di Montezemolo Rules Out Alonso-Massa Feud

After Ferrari condemned the international media for trying to set off false polemics and “create bad blood between the two drivers” Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the Italian company's chairman Luca di Montezemolo also ruled out a feud between the two Latin racers.

The entire discussion was triggered by Alonso's passing Massa on the pit entry road, that almost saw the Brazilian driver being sent to the grass and record a DNF. While Massa hinted his frustration after the race was over and team principal Stefano Domanicali was seen throwing his hands in the air once he witnessed the whole scene live on the screens, the Scuderia insisted the relationship between the two drivers was not affected in any way.

There is no dispute between Alonso and Massa, they know well what they have to do and will continue doing it, because they know that they are racing for Ferrari and not for themselves,” insisted Di Montezemolo on Ferrari's official website.

Furthermore, the team's statement on Tuesday revealed that “Felipe and Fernando are travelling back to Europe on the same flight, together with the Scuderia's technicians,” and Massa's initial comments on the move were taken out of context by the media.

As far as the race itself goes Di Montezemolo said he is not entirely unhappy with the result, considering the incidents on Sunday afternoon, but expects the team to fight back for race wins in Europe.

Let's hope that we'll be back to winning ways soon. I thought that Sunday would have been the right occasion: I've seen an excellent Alonso in the first five corners, but there was the tiny detail, that he had jumped the start,” added the Ferrari official.
