Once a niche housing segment, tiny homes have significantly surged in popularity in Australia in recent years due to the rising home prices, blossoming into a full-blown industry. Besides lower living costs, this surge in popularity reflects a growing desire for a simpler, more intentional lifestyle with respect for the planet.
Iconic Tiny Homes, a Melbourne, Victoria-based builder that promotes low-impact and sustainable living, focuses on creating compact dwellings that allow people to not only realize their dreams of homeownership but also fulfill their desire for a simplified life. Moreover, sustainability is at the core of everything the company does. From using renewable materials to crafting homes that are energy-efficient and self-sufficient, the expert team is dedicated to helping clients reduce their environmental footprint.

One of the newest additions to the builder's portfolio is Daly, a delightful single-level tiny home with a downstairs bedroom intended to make small living accessible to anyone. Designed to offer a beautiful, spacious, and functional living space, this tiny house on wheels also enhances the occupants' connection to the outdoors and inspires a seamless integration with the natural world.

It sits on a triple-axle trailer and measures 29.5 feet (9 meters) in length, 8 feet (2.4 meters) in width, and 10 feet (3 meters) in height, a perfect size for those who seek a mobile home that allows them to move whenever they feel like changing scenery.

In terms of construction, Daly has a Trucore engineered steel frame, is fully insulated, and boasts a sleek and modern exterior clad in black Colordond metal siding, complemented by a durable steel roof with a gable roofline.

Despite its tiny structure, this Aussie compact home makes no compromises in terms of creature comforts and aesthetics. The cleverly partitioned living space is designed to pamper two dwellers in comfort and luxury, with a simple open plan featuring a spacious kitchen and living area, a generous-size bathroom, and a queen-size private bedroom. Though it has only one bedroom, this single-floor model can actually accommodate four people with an optional sofa bed in the living room.

Since this is an authentic Aussie home, generous glazing all around invites the outdoors in, so the interior is incredibly luminous and airy. What's more, the high ceilings and crisp white walls amplify the sensation of openness. The interior walls and ceilings are clad with Easycraft lining boards, which give the entire space a neat, contemporary look.

If you examine the floorplan closely, you'll notice the interior appears to be divided into two halves - the common living area, which comprises the lounge, kitchen, and dining space, and the private area featuring the pass-through bathroom and the bedroom. A sliding glass door leads inside the house and invites you into the living room. As you would expect from a tiny house this size, there is no formal delineation between the functional spaces in this part of the house, so the snug lounge seamlessly connects to the kitchen and dining space. A free-flowing social area is thus created, allowing owners to still host dinner parties and showcase their cooking skills in their compact home.

It also connects to the outdoors, as the plush sofa faces the glass entrance door and has a large picture window behind it, enabling those inside to feel at one with their surroundings.

The adjacent kitchen is one of the highlights of this house. The entire cooking space exudes an informal, relaxed vibe thanks to the abundance of natural light that floods it and the multifunctionality of the design. It boasts a U-shaped design, with a section of the countertop doubling as a breakfast bar strategically placed in front of a window for beautiful views while dining.

A couple of base cabinets, a full-height pantry, and plenty of overhead cabinets offer sufficient storage space for cooking essentials, while a slew of modern appliances, ranging from a two-burner induction hot plate with rangehood and an electric oven to a draw dishwasher and full-size fridge, ensure you can cook any meal you want.

The more private section of this house includes a modern, luxurious bathroom and a cozy bedroom that envelops you in a warm feeling of familiarity. The walk-through bathroom follows the same interior design style as the rest of the house, which means it is dominated by white walls and furniture for a pristine look, and it's fitted with a luxurious tiled shower cabin, a toilet, a waterfall benchtop with space for a washing machine, a sink, and an oval back-lit mirror.

The comfy bedroom located on the ground floor will definitely appeal to anyone who loathes the idea of having pesky ladders or stairs in their tiny home. Apart from a queen-size bed and twin nightstands, this bedroom also includes built-in wardrobes. Lying in bed inside this bedroom must feel like relaxing on a canopy bed in the middle of nature, as the sleeping space is surrounded on three sides by windows.

Iconic Tiny Homes designed the Daly compact dwelling for full-time living, but the model is versatile enough to also be used as a guest house, an office on wheels, or a vacation rental. The charming Daly tiny house is priced at AUD $125,000, which is around $83,200 in US dollars, and the company only delivers in Australia.
