Dacia’s Duster, the brand's first SUV and one of the most popular cars in its segment, has received a new trim level.
First launched in 2010, the Dacia Duster has attracted customers thanks to its affordable price and off-road abilities in standard configuration, and the Romanian brand owned by Renault has updated the range as a swan-song before it gets a replacement.
The Duster was facelifted in 2013, so there was no point in making significant design changes, so Dacia just added more equipment to the range.
The novelty in the Dacia Duster offering is called Black Touch, and it refers to a new trim level, which has replaced “Prestige” as the top-of-the-line for the Romanian SUV.
Dacia did more than just rename its peak equipment level, as it added a few design features along with extra gear, selected to make life on board easier.
The flagship Duster is easy to spot, thanks to its new design elements. First of all, you will observe a high-gloss black radiator grille, which matches the side mirror cases. The fog lights get satin chrome surrounds, and the 16-inch alloy wheels receive a diamond-cut design.
The door pillars also get the black treatment, so that they would not stand out in a negative way. The roof bars retain the satin-chrome finish, while the rear skid plates do the same.
Once inside, passengers will observe a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as a high-gloss black finish for various ornaments. The MediaNav Evolution unit is integrated as standard, and it also has a video camera that is activated when reversing.
Dacia’s new Duster equipment level is available in France since September 1, 2016. The automaker might only offer it in the Hexagon, as an exclusive option for the market.
The top-spec Duster starts at 17,100 euros in France with a front-wheel drive configuration and a 1.2-liter TCe 125 HP engine. The same unit is available with 4WD for 19,100 euros, VAT included.
Customers interested in the diesel version of the Duster must pay 17,800 for the FWD version with 110 HP, or 19,800 for the 4WD with the same 1.5-liter dCi unit. Warranty remains unchanged, with three-year or 100,000-kilometer coverage as standard.
