The tasty custom motorcycles from Indonesia never stop coming, and the one we’re about to look at was put together by Batakastem Workshop. Located right outside the bustling capital of Jakarta, this bike-modding clinic is the brainchild of Abraham Simatupang. He leads a team of talented craftsmen under Batakastem’s roof, where bespoke marvels like this one-off Kawasaki ER-6N are the order of the day.
Abraham and his crew are well accustomed to the ER-6N platform from Kawasaki, as they’d crossed paths on multiple projects in the past. This time around, the guys drew some cosmetic inspiration from the Z650RS, while infusing the whole thing with futuristic design cues and a scrambler demeanor. First, a concept was sketched out to set a clear direction for this build, then the custom wizardry got underway.

It did so at the motorcycle’s rear end, where we now find a bespoke steel subframe replacing the Kawi’s stock part. The tubing is encased in new side panels and a svelte tail section, all manufactured from scratch using thin sheets of galvanized steel. Look closely, and you will also see a discreet inner fender whose rearmost tip carries the license plate holder.

There’s an additional mudguard lower down, placed nice and close to the tire on a swingarm-mounted bracket. An LED taillight with integrated turn signals also makes an appearance at the back, joined by a black leather seat with just enough room for two. Moving northward, we come across a stylish one-off fuel tank replacing the ER-6N's factory module, and the sporty belly pan is custom piece built in-house, as well.

As a matter of fact, the only bits of original bodywork still present here are the pointy covers found on each side of the radiator. The bike’s front end is just as impressive as the rest, comprising a handmade fender and nose fairing, along with an aftermarket LED headlight originally designed for the Harley V-Rod. For additional lighting, Batakastem placed some potent projectors atop the engine crash bars.

Those sturdy protectors were made from scratch just like the bodywork and rear subframe, but the fabrication work didn’t end there. Abraham’s specialists took it upon themselves to fashion a complete stainless-steel exhaust system, as well as a replacement handlebar for the motorcycle's cockpit area. Other bits worth mentioning are the slim rear-view mirrors and dual-purpose Continental tires.

Batakastem’s closing act had to do with the paint job. The chosen livery is simple yet handsome, mixing a silver base with pale gold, black, and white accents on the bodywork. We found the Z650RS badges on the side panels to be a pretty confusing addition at first, but they start making sense once you learn of the design influences applied here. In a world where retro-style scramblers are the norm, this striking ER-6N will have no problem standing out!
