There are countless RV and motorhome manufacturers in this world, and quite a few of them are from right here in our own backyard. So many that some fly under the radar. This is the case with Phoenix USA RV, a crew from out in Elkhart, Indiana, a sort of Mecca of RV brands.
Ladies and gents, today we'll be exploring a Class C motorhome from none other than Phoenix USA RV, a crew that, until now, wasn't on my radar. However, this brand has been a name in the industry since 1996, and its flagship is the machine in question today, the Cruiser.

Now, the Cruiser is a massive machine, and depending on which of the eight available floorplans you choose, you can expect an even larger machine than what we see in the gallery, up to over 30 feet in length. Yet, all layouts are built upon the same base vehicle, a Ford E-450 with a 7.3-liter V8 engine. That motor is strong enough to handle a GCWR of 22,000 lbs (9,980 kg), and if we consider that a bare unit weighs around 14,500 lbs (6,577 kg), we can see that there's plenty of room to play around with.

Why so much empty space? It's simple, really, and it all has to do with a statement that Phoenix has on its website: "The number one choice in downsizing." This just means that the Cruiser is ready for all your on-road needs, giving us a unit that's capable of year-round living.

As for how much we can expect to drop on one of these babies, it all depends on the floorplan you're getting and the features inside. But, on average, 2024 units can be found around the $175K range for some of the smaller units in Phoenix's lineup. So, to get a feel for what's in store here, let's take an imaginary trip and live out of a Cruiser.

All this starts off with you signing the paperwork, driving home, loading up the Cruiser with everything you may need, and possibly selling your landlocked house to pay off the Cruiser's price tag. With all that out of the way, you'll find yourself driving along the highway with your family; some units appear to be able to accommodate up to six guests, maybe more, if your pockets are ready for the right options. This is made possible by an array of modular furniture, including dinettes and sofas. But we'll get to all that shortly.

For now, picture yourself rolling into some trailer park or a vineyard somewhere, maybe a hidden spot on a beach, and parking this behemoth. At this stage, there are two ways you can go about things; the first is to head outside and take in the sights and sounds of the world around you or, prepare the Cruiser for its elongated stay; why not do both?

Once you're ready to begin the settling down process, we'll be able to witness a crucial stage in your home's evolution: huffing and puffing until multiple slide-outs are revealed. Depending on the floorplan chosen, your layout will most often have the bedroom laying on a slide-out, while others will have the dinettes, entertainment lounges, galley, or any other mix you can think of.

Furthermore, Phoenix plays around with the arrangement of everything, so some units have a galley at the rear, some right in the middle, and others toward the front of the camper. It feels like the Cruiser has a layout for everyone.

Yet spiffy interiors aren't all that the Cruiser is known for. Remember, this unit is designed with four-season travel in mind, and that means more systems than we would ever have time for. I'm not joking; according to the manufacturer's website, the list of features and options is so long that we'd be here until the cows come home.

Nonetheless, allow me to point out that a fully off-grid independent unit is in our hands, capable of being equipped with generators, solar panels, battery banks, plenty of water - up to 47 gals (178 liters) - AC units to tame the Sonoran, and insulation to handle the Rockies. Honestly, if you can think of it, Phoenix USA will have it ready to be thrown onto or into your Cruiser. Comfort features are endless, too, seeing as how it's a home on wheels.

Yet, it doesn't matter how long we sit here and talk about the Cruiser; what's to be done at this stage is to see one in person. For that, you'll have to get in touch with any dealerships in your area and step aboard. If what you see isn't to your liking, you can always go to the source; give Phoenix USA RV a call and ask for the price tag of your dream home. Enjoy the trip out there, and be sure to send us pictures of your adventure; maybe we'll write an article about you.
