The Maryland International Raceway drag strip is home to many a quarter-mile standoff, and this race compilation is no different. We have the mighty and beloved Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06 facing a BMW M3, an X3 M40i model, and the Toyota Supra GR. As a last laugh, it also goes up against... no one else, just to see what it's like to race against the clock on the Maryland International Raceway.
During the first race, the Corvette Z06 faced what looks like a BMW X3 M40i model. After all was said and done, the C8 took home the gold with 11.26 seconds on the clock while going at 124.64 miles per hour or 200.5 kilometers per hour. The family-friendly BMW did it in 12.04 seconds at 115.98 miles or 186.65 kph per hour.

A 2024 BMW X3 M40i has a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo straight-six engine that outputs 382 hp and 369 lb-ft or 500 Nm of torque. The spec sheet boasts it should go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph (209 kph), or 155 miles (249 kph) per hour with performance tires and an increased top speed limiter. All that bother should cost you around $62,000 to begin with.

Next, the Z06 went up against another BMW family member, the M3 sedan. For one reason or another, the Corvette driver "fell asleep at the wheel," so to speak, because while the M3 was racing for its life, the Chevy supercar was still at the starting line.

After finally waking up from its deep slumber, the Z06 finished in 11.68 seconds at 123.49 miles per hour or 199 kph, but the BMW was much quicker, finishing in just 10.78 seconds at 137.51 mph (221 kph).

The M3 RWD-only model can go from 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds, costing $76,000. The rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition hits 60 in 3.8 seconds and starts from $80k, while the $84,300 M3 Competition xDrive variant can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. The M3 Competition xDrive comes with the known 3.0-liter straight-six mill that delivers 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (649 Nm) of twist.

Then, it was time for the Corvette to face the Toyota Supra GR, and surprisingly, the C8 ended up regretting it. The Supra did a 9.97-run at 145.91 miles per hour or 234.81 kph, while the C8 finished in 11.12 seconds at 125.69 mph (202 kph).

That Supra was something else, pulling a sub-10-second time like that, given that the beefiest 2024 model comes out of the factory with a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged engine that "only" outputs 382 hp and 368 lb-ft (499 Nm) of torque.

After that surprising defeat, the Corvette decided it was time to race the clock itself. While going at it all by its lonesome, the speed trap displayed a time of 11.41 seconds at 124.19 miles per hour or almost 200 kilometers per hour. That was all she wrote for the little Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that day.

The Corvette Stingray usually gets to step into the drag racing spotlight out of the entire high-performance Chevrolet family. Most likely, it's because the C8 Stingray costs around $70,000, without the $6,345 Z51 Performance Package, while its more powerful sibling, the Z06, starts from around $115,390. And that's excluding the Z07 Performance Package worth an extra $9k.

Given the right angle and lighting conditions, we could mistake these two for one another from the exterior, but upon closer inspection, we would see an entirely different story under the hood.

The Stingray comes with the already-famous 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 490 hp and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque. However, equip it with the Z51 bundle, and you squeeze out a bit more oomph: 495 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque, which should help it skip along from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds under the perfect conditions, of course.

The Z06 is barging into supercar territory with its 5.5-liter high-output V8 powerplant, which produces 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of twist. The Z07 option should make this already blazing-fast American purebred rocketship on wheels go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

We can't leave the newest addition to the Corvette family aside now. The 2024 E-Ray has a 6.2L V8 engine aided by a 160-hp electric drive unit, producing 655 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. It starts at $117,545, which isn't bad when you factor in Chevy's 0-to-60 in 2.5 seconds bragging rights.

Maybe one day, the videographers at the "ImportRace" YouTube channel will film a race between these three thoroughbreds. It would be quite a sight to behold, not to mention seeing them go around a proper race track.
