The rumors of (already) ex-Ducati CEO Gabriele del Torchio leaving the Borgo Panigale crew were true, as Ducati has announced their new CEO in the person of Claudio Domenicali.
Domenicali was part of the Ducati managing teams since way back in 1991, when he joined the red team as a project manager, later becoming Managing Director of Ducati Corse in 1999, then being promoted as R&D Director in 2005 and advancing to General Manager Operations and Product Development 4 years later.

With his commitment to taking Ducati to higher standards, he was confirmed as a Member of the new Board of Directors after Ducati changed hands and became part of Audi AG.

Audi CEO Rupert Stadler thanked del Torchio for his successful management in a period of difficult economical unrest and for setting the company on a “path of growth and strength”. Stadler also added: “Domenicali knows Ducati and the motorcycle business more than anyone. He embodies continuity and Ducati's values in an exceptional manner."

Gabriele del Torchio is headed for a new challenge, bringing back the sunny days for Alitalia, one of the Italian airlines, now hoping to get past a very rought time with its new CEO.
