If we had a nickle for every time someone said that an AMG would be better with four cylinders instead of eight or twelve we would probably be pretty poor.
Now that there is not one but three AMG models with a blown four-banger under the hood, of which only two cars will be available in the United States, the haters might want to eat their words.
Enter the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG, currently the only four-cylinder AMG in the land of the free, ready to pave the way for the recently-unveiled GLA 45 AMG in the nearby future.
With a two-liter turbocharged engine that outputs no less than 360 hp (355 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque under the hood, the AMG version of the CLA isn't exactly a slouch, despite the fact that it sports half the number of cylinders than most of its bigger brothers.
The folks from AutoBlog recently had a chance to test drive one of the "four-door coupes" for a couple of days and they seem to be pretty convinced by the bonkers version of the CLA, despite the obvious drawbacks like rear-headroom or the fact that most Americans who buy sports cars over $50,000 would probably prefer one with a V8 engine.
