Driving a car on a snow-covered road might really test your skills in case the vehicle isn't equipped with proper tires and/or chains. But even so, Citroen promises that its new Snow Motion technology, also called the "Intelligent Anti-Skid System", will help you drive in difficult road conditions easier than before. Basically, the Snow Motion system, currently available on Citroen C5, maintains driving control on snow-covered roads, even better than standard ESP systems that might prove inefficient in extreme conditions.
The Snow Motion system relies on information collected by a number of sensors and related to road conditions, steering wheel movement and acceleration. Depending on these details, the system automatically generates a set of optimized settings, adjusting the vehicle behavior on the road by applying more or less brake force and traction control on a certain wheel.
OK, now how fast can you say "traction control"? As you can see, the Snow Motion or the so-called "Intelligent Anti-Skid system" works almost similar to a traction control system but incorporating a snow mode providing better grip in extreme conditions.
In fact, the French manufacturer confirmed in a TV spot that the Citroen C5 is now featuring a new traction control system called "Snow Motion" but said it is capable of providing way better performances compared to a tradition traction system. However, there's not much to say about it as Citroen hasn't released too many details about the technology, but only a 30-second TV commercial and a bunch of photo showing the system in action.
So, check out the Citroen C5 sporting Snow Motion photos plus the TV spot after the jump.
