Citroen is introducing the Berlingo Airdream, a green light commercial vehicle that uses a micro-hybrid drivetrain that promises to increase fuel efficiency by up to 19 percent.
The e-HDI Airdream micro-hybrid drivetrain includes a diesel unit that delivers 90 hp and 159 lb-ft of torque, with the unit using a a Stop & Start system and regenerative braking. In urban areas, this promises to cut fuel consumption by up to 15 percent and reduce CO2 emissions to 123 grams per km. As for the combined cycle fuel efficiency, this sits at 4.7 liters per 100 km (50 mpg).
“Citroen has developed its unique 5 Star Euro 5 LCV programme to maximise the environmental and productivity potential of its advanced HDi technology. The e-HDi Airdream micro-hybrid drivetrain in the Euro 5 Berlingo LCV range will provide customers with even more cost saving and environmental advantages thanks to their improvement in combined cycle fuel economy by up to 19% and an amazing emissions reduction of up to 17.5%,” said Scott Michael, Citroen’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager.
