The CEO of both Fiat and Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne, has been against hybrid vehicles in the past, but it seems he is turning over a new green leaf. In a recent statement, he took a less radical stand toward adding that electric motor, as he said this was the only way he could meet the 2025 CAFE standards in America.
These say that automakers will have to increase the standard for cars and light trucks to 54.5 mpg in the 2025 model year and 35.5 mpg in 2016. The first Chrysler hybrid will the mighty 300, which will arrive in 2013. No further details were released, but we suspect this will mix the Pentastar V6 engine with an electric motor
