The American division of South Korean manufacturer Hyundai announced today it has appointed Chris Perry to the position of vice president of Marketing. Perry, who has been the Director of Marketing Communications at Hyundai since 2007, will report to the company's CEO, John Krafcik.
Perry was in charge of Hyundai's consumer-focused marketing programs which gained the "Marketer of the Year" award from AdAge for the carmaker last year. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Marketing from California State University Northridge and worked as strategic planner for Isuzu.
"Chris Perry is a passionate and talented marketing innovator who leads with a rare combination of consumer-focus, creativity, and teamwork," John Krafciksaid in a statement.
"During his ten years at Hyundai, Chris has moved from doing great brand planning and positioning work to delivering our 'big voices in big places' media strategy and groundbreaking creative, all the while building strong relationships with his agencies and colleagues. Nobody knows the Hyundai brand and our target customer better than Chris Perry, and no one is better equipped to take this growing brand to the next level."
Marketing helped Hyundai register an all-time April and first four months' sales record in the US. Hyundai saw its US sales grow by 30 percent l compared to the same month of last year, managing to post a total volume of 44,023 vehicles. April also marked the sixteenth consecutive month of year over year market share gain for Hyundai.
