Just a week ago we've reported you that Chevy won't sell Camaro Z/28 components to non-owners. Much to the disappointment of the 500 people that paid $75,000 on their track-focused muscle cars, some of those highly desirable and unique Z/28 components will be included in performance packs purchasable by anyone.
By backing down the non-owners sales ban on 2014 Camaro Z/28 spare parts, Chevrolet will enable regular Camaro customers to kit their standard vehicles with Z/28 hardware, as well as aesthetic parts and aerodynamic enhancements.
One of the nine individual Z/28 performance packages includes suspension updates such as springs, anti-roll bars and spool-valve dampers. Another one comes with the same Torsen helical limited-slip diff and 3.91:1 axle ratio as on the track-bred street racer.
The series of non-restricted Z/28 performance enhancements continues with a diff heat exchanger, cold-air intake, racing exhaust manifolds, cat-back exhausts and brake cooling ducts, as well as a set of special Recaro bucket seats. As for the aerodynamic pre-packed kit, an underbody tray for reduced drag and lift is included, along with a front splitter, rear spoiler and the visually pleasing Z/28 wheel arch extensions.
Of course, most visual features of the Z/28 Camaro aren't available, but that's no biggie. It's pretty easy to find similar wheels and hood scoops. As for those that only want the performance of the $75K Chevy, you can buy a 7.0-liter LS7 supercharger V8 as a crate engine for a little over $15,000.
