Even before we drove the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, we were convinced we all love this symbol of American motoring, even the Ford or the Chrysler guys. Apparently, there are certain people in the world who don’t have a place in their heart for the ‘Vette. The best example would probably be the unidentified man who vandalized the C7 Corvette in the adjacent images.
The Stingray, whose owner is called Renee and lives in Hoover, Alabama, was initially thought to have been attacked with acid. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the substance was actually paint stripper gel, as a stingrayforums user noted.
The attack took place between midnight and 4 AM at The Abbey at Riverchase Apartments. Renee explained she has no idea who did this to her beloved Stingray and even offers a $1,000 reward for those who can lead to the arrest and conviction of the person who did this.
The gel has obviously done its job and you can see the effect on the various materials making up the Corvette’s body. We’ll remind you GM engineers gifted the Stingray with a carbon fiber hood and roof panel (luckily not affected), as well as composite materials for the fenders, doors and rear quarter panels.
The owner explained the car will be in the repair shop for one month. While that does sound like quite a lot, it also means the hurt Corvette will receive the proper care. We’re talking about a complete respray here.
