A photo of this Chevrolet hot hatchling wearing the "Aveo RS" nameplate has emerged on Russia website autowp.ru. The car is cosmetically identical to the American market Sonic RS, but this version is clearly destined to be sold in Europe.
Unconfirmed reports from last year suggested the Aveo RS would arrive in Europe in late 2013, giving credibility to our photo.
The Aveo RS would be powered by the same 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder as the American model. The engine is rated at 140 PS (138bhp) and should take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 8 seconds. This engine is already available in cars like the Opel Astra, Mokka, Chevrolet Cruze and Orlando minivan.
The Aveo RS will probably be pitted against cars like the Suzuki Swift Sport, Fiat 500 Abarth and Renault Twingo RS. It should be priced accordingly and will be sold with an array of sporting goodies, like 17-inch wheels and a leather interior.
Editor's note: Can you tell we're not excited about this car? Sorry about that.
