The new Chevrolet hatchback is scheduled to arrive at dealerships across the UK next month, with the range starting off at only £13,995 for the base model equipped with a 1.6-liter engine and manual gearbox. The arrival of a new five-door is a significant event, as since 1988 the compact hatchback has been Chevrolet’s best-seller in the UK, especially in the fleet market segment.
“The hatchback version of the Cruze is a massively important new car for us, as it not only appeals on a retail level, but also massively increases Chevrolet’s appeal to the fleet market – alongside the Orlando and the New Captiva, and with a new Aveo just round the corner, we have a truly holistic model range that will appeal to fleet managers, user-choosers and retail customers alike,” said Chevrolet Managing Director, Mark Terry.
As you might expect, the entry-level LS model, equipped with a 1.6 litre engine developing 124PS. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, remote locking, electric-front windows, follow-me-home headlights, electrically-adjustable heated door mirrors and a quality radio/CD player with auxiliary input are all included in the price.
Pay £900, and Chevrolet will provide the LT model that brings extra premium features, such as cruise control, electric windows all round, a multi-function trip computer, parking distance sensors, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, steering wheel audio controls and a leather steering wheel and gearknob.
Cruze buyers who opt for the LTZ trim level can specify a 141PS 1.8-litre petrol engine with five-speed manual for £16,095 or auto transmission for £17,095, or the 163PS 2.0 VCDi with a choice of either six-speed manual for £17,795 or six-speed auto gearboxes for £18,795.
LTZ trim offers exceptional levels of standard kit, including Bluetooth, a USB port, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, an electro-chromatic rear view mirror, 17-inch alloys and aluminium-effect trim on the instrument panel.
The range-topping LTZ with Executive Pack, which gets leather trim as standard, along with satellite navigation and heated front seats. Available only as a diesel, prices start at £19,295.
