The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been launched in most markets around the world with the exception of the largest one, China.
Since “Middle Kingdom” - otherwise known as China – will probably be the place where most S-Class models will be bought, the Germans wanted to prepare themselves and the first lot of about 50 “Sonder Klasse” has already arrived on Chinese shores even though the car is yet to be officially launched in the country.
Since China is about as big as a continent, Mercedes-Benz first had to set-up the model's suspension and other settings for the various driving conditions that the S-Class might meet there, so the official sales launch will probably happen in the upcoming weeks.
Interestingly, all the S-Class models from the very first shipment are black and long wheelbase versions, which says a lot about how Mercedes-Benz see the Chinese taste in three-pointed star cars. Either that or they're using the old Henry Ford idiom of “you can have any color you want as long as it's black.”
