Changan Ford Posts 54% Sales Increase

Ford is one of the manufacturer which are benefiting from the growing market in China, as its local partner, Changan Ford Sales Company (Changan Ford) today reported a sales increase of 54 percent in July to 19,486 units. "In addition to being a record result for July, the strong results also mark the sixth straight month of year-over-year growth for Changan Ford, which credits its continued sales success to increasing consumer acceptance of Ford products and rapid improvement in distribution capability across China," Ford said in a release.

The Focus was again one of the best-selling models, with sales exceeding 10,000 units for the fifth consecutive month. Ford Mondeo and S-MAX proved to be popular too, with sales increasing by 68 and 22 percent respectively. The new Fiesta sold a total of 22,630 units in the first five months in China, Ford said. Overall, Ford Changan delivered a total of 123,474 units since the beginning of the year.

Ford is just one of the companies which posted very high sales in China, with Audi, General Motors, Hyundai and several other carmakers posting enthusiastic results as well.

But Ford says this is just a sign that the company's popularity outside the United States is growing bigger and this can only be good news for the American manufacturer which expects to get back to profit in 2011.

"We're pleased to see Changan Ford carry on its strong growth momentum into a record July," said Nigel Harris, general manager of Changan Ford. "The increasing popularity of Ford brand products is driving strong demand among Chinese consumers who appreciate Ford brand's class-leading quality, fuel efficiency, safety, styling and drivability.”
